Receiving Gifts

In our quest for serenity and growth, we have received many gifts, But these gifts did not come cheap. They where bought at the price of tears, frustrations, stuggle, and pain.
To attain them, we had to trade in old customs, habits, attitudes, an beliefs. We had to give up false pride and the illusion that our lives were or should be perfect.
Yet the value of these gifts is infinite.
Not one of us would relinquish them today, for we know how hard we have worked to arrive at the gifts of acceptance, serenity, and hope.
We cherish our greater self-understanding, and we appreciate the compassion we have for others today. We are happy to be free of false hopes, false expectations, self-pity, and blame.
Our gratitudde overflows when we remember our growing trust in our Higher Power and increased hosesty with ourselves, our loved ones, and our friends.
We rejoice with the gifts of life,
and the priviledge in sharing them!

Today I will give thanks for the gifts that are mine,
and look for a good way to share them with others.
